Be FREE and Independent of Toxins this July 4th With 5-Free Nail Polish

Home/Uncategorized/Be FREE and Independent of Toxins this July 4th With 5-Free Nail Polish

So you want to show some “Independence” this 4th of July with your own individuality and style while also being patriotic to your country, at least on a fashion basis, with tried and true red, white and blue. Understandable.

If you are 18 or 45, near the 4th of July, a product like this can make you “starry eyed.” You start thinking this is super cute and packaged all together nicely – it’s a glory purchase.

SWEET LIBERTY, RAISE THE RED FLAG:  ORLY scores near very BOTTOM when it comes to being “healthy, or safe.”   The Good Guide – – is a website with a team of scientists that rate products on a 0 to 10 scale for their health, environment, and social impact.  The overall score for a product is an average of the above three scores, and the higher the better.  ORLY does NOT score high.

Why?  Problematic, banned, or contaminated ingredients.  While I don’t have this particular patriotic set of products in front of me to read the ingredients, and ORLY seems to have a line on their site that is at least toulene free, many ingredients linked to toxicity come up in Orly like:

• Collodion
• Tosylamide Formaldehyde Resin
• Bismuth Oxychloride
• Guanine
• D&C Red 34
• D&C Red 6
• D&C Red 7
• Iron Oxide
• Dibutyl Phthalate
• Butyl Acetate
• Camphor
• Mica
• Stearalkonium Hectorite
• Ethyl Acetate
• Titanium Dioxide
• FD&C Yellow 5

This is the land of the FREE, people.  So, go with a 5-free brand.  This means your polish is FREE of formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and toluene—plus formaldehyde resin and camphor, too.
Some of the 5 Free alternatives include Zoya, Deborah Lippman, Jinsoon, NCLA, Priti and Vapour.
And you don’t have to stick with just red, white and blue to have fireworks this year either.

Long May Your Toxic-Free Fashion Flag Wave,
